We are the world, we are the people

Several months ago a colleague asked me to provide some thoughts on how communications have changed in the global modern global business environment.

I responded in typically fashion - with a long, rambling response full of non-sequiturs. Among my comments were this, "Let’s get one thing straight: All companies are global companies, from the mom and pop coffee shop on the corner to Starbucks. They are all global companies because in an environment where people have unfettered reach and access, they are competing for the same dollars, same workers, same time and attention."

So I am certainly paying attention to what is going on over in Davos, Switzerland at the World Economic Forum. I don't care what you do for a living or what your specific interests are, if you want to be an educated global citizen it is worth paying attention. For a recap of the sights, sounds and opinions coming from the world's leading thinkers, check out Davos Conversation.
